” The Parachute Collective is a London based community of shoemakers and leather artisans. It is set out to support independent creative artisans and offers a retail platform for Cordwainers from around the world. The workshop is fully fitted to support all your shoe making needs and a retail area is available to members who wish to display their creative works… “
Last week, I was out an about in London collecting the final leather samples for a range of leather wallets and accessories I plan to produce for my next collection for Scott Fraser.
At the end of the day and seeing as though I was in the heart of East London, I headed down to see a friend who has recently opened up shop. Thomas Rowe, the owner and curator of the Parachute Collective took an old disused railway arch, down a narrow alleyway, next to a boxing gym and has transformed it into his own personal studio and creative workshop/shop. This two-tiered space is host to other artisans making bags, shoes and bicycles among other things. The double doors are always open, so feel free to check them out, have a pair of shoes or browse the selection of pieces that are on offer.
