Dawson Denim, the denim based brand out of Brighton (England), who are championing all that is craft, care and attention to detail in work-wear has opened up their first workshop. I felt it time, whilst I was passing through the coastal town last weekend, to give them a visit.Based just minutes from the centre of Brighton, in a warehouse that could only be described as a beehive-like creative space filled with around 20+ other makers, printers, brewers, bike builders etc. all working alongside.
They sit proud in there new space, surrounded by their working collection of original 30s-50s Reece and Union machinery that they use on a daily basis. The space has come just in time for the launch of their Japanese selvedge denim jeans range and with plans to expand the range further shortly. I joined them as Kelly was cutting the sample for a new chore style jacket, whilst Scott was finishing up some apron orders – their first piece they started with way back in 2012.
