Botanical : Photo series by Samuel Zeller

After visiting Kew Gardens (London) several months ago my interest in botanicas and the documentation that has gone on from it found me looking at a varierty of moern interpretations. I recently came across Samuel Zeller’s series which stopped me cold in my trackers. Samuel is a Swiss-based designer & freelance photographer, he captures the flora and fauna of a botanical garden from the outside through blurry translucent glass. Entitled Botanical, it is a photographic reinterpretation of the classical botanical illustrations produced between the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Looking at the work it’s easy to see the link to the vintage watercolor painted counterparts.
